The British Standard of Care

Every MollyDoo mattress is manufactured to comply with BS 7177 and either BS 18700 or BS EN 16890, as applicable to the mattress type and its intended use. This ensures the correct fire resistance and safety protection for each product.

BS 7177:­2008+­A1:­2011

Resistance to ignition of mattresses, mattress pads, divans and bed bases.

BS 7177 specifies fire-resistance requirements based on the environment in which the mattress will be used.

BS EN 16890:­2017+­A1:­2021

Safety requirements and test methods for mattresses used in children’s cots and cribs.

This standard applies to mattresses for products including cots, cot beds, travel cots and cribs in both domestic and non-domestic settings.

BS 18700:2023

Safety requirements and test methods for mattresses used in Moses baskets, carrycots, prams and similar products.

This is the current standard replacing the relevant requirements previously covered by the now-withdrawn BS 1877-10:­2011+­A1:­2012.
